GADGET In order to develop, build, and run systems that manipulate electrons and other electrically charged particles, electronics is a scientific and engineering field that examines and uses the laws of physics. While electronics is a subfield of electrical engineering, it is distinct from the latter in that its focus is on controlling and enhancing the flow of electric current and converting it from one form to another, such as from analogue signals to digital signals or from alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Active devices like transistors, diodes, and integrated circuits are used in electronics. The fields of microelectronics, optoelectronics, nanoelectronics, and quantum electronics—which deal with the creation and use of electrical devices at microscopic, nanoscopic, optical, and quantum scales—are also included in the umbrella of electronics.
